Cancer Care Griffith is excited to announce a key milestone in their centre’s construction phase, the arrival of the state-of the-art medical device, the Elekta Linear Accelerator treatment machine. With the centre opening for patient treatment in late May, this technology will help deliver advanced cancer care to patients in Griffith and the surrounding areas and transform the cancer care experience for the local community. Patients living in Griffith and surrounding communities will no longer have to travel hundreds of kilometres to regional centres like Wagga Wagga for cancer care, localising and transforming the cancer care experience for patients and their families.

The high-performance linear accelerator is used to deliver advanced radiation therapy to cancer patients. It is equipped with the latest technology, including the ability to provide highly precise and accurate radiation therapy, to target cancer cells while minimising radiation exposure to healthy tissues. The acquisition of this cutting-edge treatment machine marks a significant milestone for Cancer Care Griffith, bringing the centre a step closer to its planned opening, in May 2023.

“There is a crucial, and currently unmet need, for access to a high quality and comprehensive cancer care development for the Griffith community. The arrival of this cutting-edge technology brings us a step closer to providing highly accurate and precise radiation therapy, which is essential in treating cancer effectively. This is a significant milestone in our commitment to providing the best possible cancer care to patients in Griffith and the surrounding areas ” said Damien Williams, Chief Operating Officer, Cancer Care Associates.

The opening of the Cancer Care Griffith facility will create a high-quality health precinct to serve the community of Griffith and beyond. Cancer Care Associates prides itself on its highly skilled multi-disciplinary team, providing the highest level of personalised care.
