Dr Tracey Dunlop, consultant Medical Oncologist at Southside Cancer Care, graduated from the University of New South Wales with first class Honours and obtained her FRACP in 2011. Her clinical practice is focused on the treatment of breast, lung and neurological (brain) malignancies.
She is a Staff Specialist at St George and Sutherland Hospitals, and a Visiting Medical Officer at St George Private Hospital, Hurstville Private Hospital and Griffith Base Hospital.
Tracey’s special interests also include the care of the elderly cancer patient and through her role at Griffith Base Hospital she has gained extensive experience in general oncology. Tracey is a member of the Lung, Breast and Neuro-oncology Multidisciplinary Teams at St George Hospital, and as such is able to offer her patients input from surgeons, radiation oncologists, genetic counsellors and allied health professionals.
Tracey has a strong interest in mentoring/teaching junior doctors as well as GP education and is the Director of Prevocational Education and Training at St George Hospital.
She works with the Hereditary Cancer Clinic at St George Hospital and an experienced in genetic counselling and testing, particularly for high-risk breast and ovarian cancer families. She is in a position to offer her patients optimal care through participation in the multidisciplinary teams at St George Hospital in her specialist tumour groups.
She feels privileged to work in the field of oncology and to support and guide her patients through their cancer journey. She often asked how she can work in a field which is perceived to be emotionally demanding and has such significant impact on the lives of patients and their families. She does her job because the relationships she forms with her patients can be incredibly rewarding and because she believes she can make a difference, not only in providing excellent clinical care but with compassion and open communication.
