Dr Derrick Siu is a medical oncologist with special interest brain, colorectal, thoracic, genitourinary cancers and melanoma. He is also a Staff Specialist Medical Oncologist at the Wollongong Hospital. Dr Siu is an active member in a number of multidisciplinary cancer care meetings across ISLHD.

Dr Siu obtained his medical degree from the University of New South Wales in 2013, while undergoing medical training he completed a Masters of Medicine (Clinical Epidemiology) at the University of Sydney in 2015. Dr Siu completed subspecialty Medical Oncology training and obtained Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2021. Dr Siu is also a research fellow at the National Health and Medical Research Council Clinical Trials Centre (NHMRC CTC), University of Sydney since 2020, where he contributes to the design, development, and conduct of national and international clinical trials in gastrointestinal and thoracic cancers. Dr Siu is an investigator on a range of clinical trials at the Wollongong Hospital and Cancer Care Wollongong.

Dr Siu is a member of a number of national and international medical oncology societies including Medical Oncology Group of Australia (MOGA), Australian Gastrointestinal Trials Group (AGITG), Cooperative Trials Group for Neuro-Oncology (COGNO), Thoracic Oncology Group of Australia (TOGA), Australian and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group (ANZUP), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO).

Research, Awards and Teaching Interests

Dr Siu is the lead author in a number of peer-reviewed journal articles, he is also a reviewer for national and international journals. Dr Siu is a PhD candidate at the University of Sydney focusing on clinical trial design and methodology in the precision oncology era.

In addition to clinical and research commitments, Dr Siu participates in a broad range of educational activities including lecturing, writing educational articles and convening educational events.
